摘要

This paper deals with the computation of electromagnetic stresses in high field magnet coils due to the interaction of magnetic field and electric current. A useful mathematical expression for the circumferential or hoop stress in a magnet winding is derived by solving the Timoshenko stress equations using homogeneous thick cylinder theory. Results are compared with those from a previous mathematical model of Caldwell obtained by making a number of simplifying assumptions and good agreement is found in a practical application.
