Dear Editor:nOliver Sacks published an extremely influentialnbook, The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat, inn1985. One of the most intriguing stories in it is concernednwith savant syndrome, which refers to thenexceptionally high abilities shown by otherwise handicappednindividuals (e.g., autism). His story is cited innmany journal articles as well as popular science books.
