摘要

E-government is currently such a hot topic that little seems left to be discussed, but this book is surprisingly refreshing both in the questions the author asks and the findings about the politics of e-government. The author presents three case studies to explore how ICT (e-government) influence the power relationship in state organizations in contemporary China, the role of technology in the anti-corruption drive and efforts to improve administrative efficiency, and the mutual relationship between the ideas, institutions and technology in administrative reform. His caution against the excessive expectation for e-government in spurring the transformation of state organizations is particularly noteworthy.
