Dana R. Dillion's The China Challenge is an intense polemic on the impending threat of China to U.S. interests in the Pacific region. It also provides readers with a candid assessment of some of the more unsettling political, military, and economic developments taking root in Southeast Asia. The book is divided into nine chapters and explores a diverse range of topics including the growing importance of Asia as a major player in world politics, religious fundamentalism in the Philippines and Indonesia, and Korean reunification. As well, there are two useful contributions made by Kelly S. Dillion and John J. Tkacik Jr. on American trade policy and Taiwanese independence.
