摘要

Since 1979 when Deng Xiaoping proposed that disciplines such as political science needed to "catch up [with the rest of the world] in a timely manner" (zhuajin buke), Chinese political science has had a three-decade-long revitalization. With China's socio-economic development, substantial development can be seen in both Chinese politics and political science. As for the latter, Western political theories has been imported en masse, upon which a basic structure has been laid down for theoretical competition between Chinese political studies and the Western political science and a simultaneous development of political philosophy and political research in political science, while in the meantime the paradigm for theoretical innovation as moulded in the Western political studies was introduced to China, which then acquired a China-oriented outlook to be based upon Chinese experiences, especially the grassroots governance in rural China.
