The first thing to do in this review is to confirm that the number of pages stated above is correct. In fact, it is something of an overstatement in that five of the forty-six pages are blank and six devoted to the bibliography. The text itself terminates on page 39 with a brief summary of the main points, which is not enhanced by two typographical errors. These and similar mistakes suggest that publication was not prepared very meticulously. They certainly do not match the series title 'essentials', prominently displayed on the front cover. In any case, as with many such Anglicisms, this choice does not seem entirely appropriate, in that it invokes the world of commerce, with one leading British supermarket chain using the term for a basic range of groceries and one Student Union choosing to call its campus store by the same name. Given the limited fare on offer here, 'bare essentials'would possibly have been a more accurate choice.
