A new nonlinear optical K_2Al_2B_2O_7 (KAB) crystal with a dimension of 2 mm thickness was grown by top-seeded solution growth (TSSG) using K_2CO_3-B_2O_3 fluxes. The viscosity of the KAB-K_2CO_3-B_2O_3 and KAB-K_2CO_3-B_2O_3-NaF (or LiCl and KF) solutions were measured. The KAB platy growth habit, viscosity and solution homogeneity are discussed.
