摘要

It is fair to say that, back in 1978 when China initiated its economic reform, few people would have predicted the spectacular growth of the Chinese economy over the ensuing three decades. By now, however, China's stunning success in economic growth has been recognized as the reemergence of the Chinese economy on the world scene after its absence for almost two centuries, heralding the shift of the world's economic center of gravity from the West to the East. The growth of the Chinese economy, especially, its resilience after the 2008 world financial crisis, has naturally attracted increasing attention from business and academics. Princeton University Professor Gregory C. Chow's most recent book is a very timely one in helping us interpreting China's economy.
