This book offers an overview of the Greek economy, in particular of its aspects more closely related to the deep crisis it has been going through in the last three years or so. For a variety of reasons, Greece has come to the center of international attention ever since the crisis, which started in the United States as a financial crisis crossed the Atlantic and took the form of a European sovereign debt crisis, a banking crisis, and a crisis that still threatens to destabilize the Euro-zone. The author of the book, Panagiotis Petrakis, is a Professor of Development Economics at the National University of Athens. This book should be of interest to researchers (economists, political scientists, and others) working in the general area of European economics and development.
