The levels of enzymic and non enzymic anti oxidants were determined in Daltons Lymphoma Ascite (DLA) transplanted Swiss albino male mice treated with the protein fraction of Cynodon dactylon. DLA induced mice showed significant decrease in the level of enzymic anti oxidants like catalase (34.1 to 20.0), peroxidase (0.053 to 0.042) and superoxide dismutase (19.4 to 13.3) in units/mg protein and non enzymic anti oxidant like glutathione (7.22 to 6.06), a-tocopherol (0.75 to 0.66) and vitamin A (7.82 to 6.07) in nmoles/mg protein which indicated the production of free radicals in the liver. Administration of protein fraction to the DLA induced mice showed enhanced level of enzymic anti oxidants (41.5,0.073 & 17.8 units/mg protein) and non enzymic anti oxidants (8.79, 1.18 & 8.91 nmoles/mg protein) respectively which proved their protective action against the free radical damage caused by DLA tumour cells and maintains the normal function of the organ and confirmed their antioxidant activity.
