摘要

The study was designed to evaluate the effect of lead on biochemical parameter in 50 foundry workers. The level of lead in blood was significantly higher(17.8 μg/dl) in the foundry workers than in control which was found to be 6.5 μg/dl. Total calcium levels were in contrast significantly decreased in foundry workers which was found to be 1.01 mrnol/1 compared with controls (2.31 mmol/l). Haemoglobin concentration and total protein levels (11.80 mg/dl and 4.75 mg/dl)were significantly reduced (P<0.001) in all foundry workers. The level of creatinine, bilirubin and urea (2.32 mg/dl. 1.28 mg/dl, 36.8 mg/dl) was also increased in foundry workers compared with the control group (0.98 mg/dl, 0.78 mg/dl, 27.1 mg/dl). Hence, there is evidence to suggest lead contamination in foundry workers.
