摘要

Resources in Technical Communication: Outcomes and Approaches creatively meets the needs of students and teachers of introductory technical communication courses. Its four primary goals include: providing key performance outcomes, giving evidence for data driven curriculum decisions, demonstrating how experienced teachers of technical communication think through assignments sequences and key learning experiences, and providing materials and sample texts that teachers can use for each assignment. The editor, Cynthia L. Selfe, and the authors developed these goals as a way to bridge gaps they have identified in the approaches and resources available for teachers of technical communication. For students, the collected assignment sequences offer challenging ways to think creatively and critically while developing the skills and dispositions industry and business demand. For teachers, these assignment sequences offer a wide range of outcomes and approaches to build a course around. Each author provides an overview that is persuasive itself, connecting theory and research to the outcome and assignments. Less experienced teachers can draw directly from the carefully organized and sequenced assignments, while more experienced teachers can use their own experiences to modify the activities and outcomes to their context.
