We have all had those experiences as a child that helped to form us into the individuals that we are today. Sometimes they are that "Ah ha!" moment when you realize that you want to study science, or it may be an accumulation of experiences. The Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program is designed to give children those experiences to develop a love for STEM-related topics and encourage children to eventually seek a profession in those areas. The Billy Mitchell Chapter (BMC) in San Antonio has embarked on a partnership with the STEM program at Hector Garcia Middle School. On September 29, the BMC had a kickoff luncheon to announce the program. The chapter was joined by speakers from the school, who all emphasized that they need adults with hands-on experience that will demonstrate the practical applications of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
