Members of the US House Armed Services Committee decried cost overruns for various defense programs during a hearing on Nov. 2, 2005, and expressed frustration that past complaints have failed to prompt much change. The hearing was intended to elicit explanations from representatives from the Department of Defense (DoD), Navy, Army, and Air Force on what steps are being taken to rectify the problems, but several of the witnesses said that, with many existing programs, reversing scheduling delays and ending cost overruns will be difficult.
