Die Bemühungen zur Vereinheitlichung der bestehenden Kennzeichnungsvorschriften für Lebensmittel, wie sie im Entwurf für eine europäische Lebensmittelinformationsverordnung ihren Ausdruck gefunden haben, lassen bisher weder eine Vereinfachung noch das Regelungsziel „bessere Gesetzgebung" erkennen. Nach drei Jahren Beratung ist auch noch kein Ende der Diskussionen in Sicht. Eine genaue Betrachtung der Beratungsgeschichte lässt aber zumindest erkennen, in welchen Bereichen noch Diskussionsbedarf und bei welchen Themen relative Einigkeit besteht.%After three years of intensive discussion on the Draft Regulation on the provision of food information to the consumer it is only clear that the future requirements for food labelling will increase. The areas of new requirements seem to be the indication of origin, the minimum size of letters for the labelling as well as allergen labelling for loose goods. The extent of these new requirements remains open for discussion as well as other issues such as extended nutrition labelling. By carefully reviewing the political process so far certain developments seem to be better predictable than at the beginning of the consultations.
