Environmental policy formulation and its implementation present amajor challengenfor policy makers at all levels.While the international community is now more concernednwith environmental issues at all levels — local, regional and global — thenonus also lies on policy makers’ proactive engagement in synthesising effectivenenvironmental management policies and, in implementing these within acceptablentimeframes, achieving realistic gains. Fundamentally, it is about merging environmentnand sustainability issues within the realm of public policy. Stephen Dovers’nattempt at addressing such a complex issue through such a concise book certainlyndeserves praise
