摘要

Louv has done it again. The best-selling author, Richard Louv, followed his 2005 book, Last Child in the Woods, (updated and expanded in 2008) and has written about how adults can benefit from reconnecting to the natural world. [See Winter 2006 and Winter 2009 book reviews of his book in this journal.] He makes a strong case for humanity's need for nature to nurture our health, well-being, spirit, and survival-to overcome nature-deficit disorder. The Nature Principle is primarily a statement of philosophy based on theory, anecdotes, and empirical studies describing the restorative power of nature. The book asks and answers several questions, including: "What would our lives be like if our days and nights were as immersed in nature as they are in technology? How can each of us help create that life-enhancing world, not only in a hypothetical future, but right now, for our families and for ourselves?" (p. 3)
