摘要

The effort to enhance research input to the management of health systems is not new. Following the significant attention given to evidence-based medicine in the 1980s and early 1990s, management became subject to the same scrutiny. As suggested by Rousseau and McCarthy, ‘refocusing management education on evidence promises improved managerial decision making and better organizational outcomes. It can reduce the use of ineffective management practices while making effective approaches more widespread.’1 Thus emerged the evidence-informed management movement from evidence-based medicine – not as clearly defined given the multidisciplinary nature of management compared to medicine but just as necessary nevertheless.
