Given that the titles of the two books contain the words 'heritage' and 'China', one might expect that there would be some commonality between them. However, other than the price and the publisher, they are remarkably different and the second book is roughly twice the length of the first. Each book will be considered in turn, leading to some concluding reflections on the status of heritage tourism in China.
