Dj(Jack) Thomas started farming on a rented 30 acre smallholding in Carmarthen in 1934. On this meagre plot he managed a 25 strong flying herd which provided milk for a doorstep delivery service. Despite a lack of scale. Jack was a progressive thinker, supporting the first bull centre in Carmarthen and using fresh semen Al from 1947. His opinion was that selling all the subsequent calves provided a useful income stream and al lowed him to focus on the herd and milk round, buying in milkers only when required. This original ground is now completely built over and the family moved the business to Gelliddu in the early 1950's.
