This issue includes the third and final Focused Section of articles based on presentations at NIP27, IS&T's International Conference on Digital Printing Technologies, held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during October 2011. The articles included in the Focused Section reflect the two primary digital printing technologies: ink jet printing and electrophotography. In recent years, the focus of the community has expanded to industrial printing, where the analogy of variable data printing is creating new opportunities and markets. The article on printing ceramic tiles documented this evolution for one application. The two regular articles have been selected for their thematic relationship to complement the articles in the Focused Section.
