The carrier transport mechanism of a positively charged mono-layer photoreceptor consisting of x-type metal-free phthalocya-nine (x-H_2Pc) and a binder resin was studied. This monolayer photoreceptor is characterized by high photosensitivity, low residual potential, and flat spectral response between 600 and 800 nm caused by a new specific interaction between x-H_2Pc and the binder resin. In this study, we measured the drift mobility (μ) of the photoreceptor, using the time-of-flight technique. The drift mobility of holes for this monolayer photoreceptor varied from 1.5 X 10~(-6) to 8.0 X 10~(-6) cm~2 · V~(-1) · sec~(-1) as the field strength increased from 1.0 X 10~5 V · cm~(-1) to 7.0 X 10~5 V · cm~(-1):105 V/cm. The temperature dependence of the mobility was fitted to an equation, μ = μ_0 exp(-E_a/kT), which indicated that the transport of holes was dominated by a thermally activated hopping process. Furthermore, we examined the effects of binders of the photoreceptor on the transport properties, with results suggesting that the characteristic induction period on the photoinduced decay curve was related to the photocurrent curve.
