A General Chaotic Key Stream Generator for Image Encryption

This paper proposes a more general chaotic algorithm to generate Independent and Identically Distributed (IID) chaotic key streams for image encryption. Given the arbitrary varieties in the conjugated cosine function, the theorem became a one-dimensional quadratic function. The algorithm proposed is more general that the two existing classes of chaotic algorithms can be included. The IID chaotic key steam can be generated by the specific interval division during the whole iteration process. The detailed theoretical derivation and the key stream generation processes were illustrated explicitly. The chaotic key streams generated passed the FIPS PUB 140-2 test, which checks the randomness and autocorrelation. For image encryption, first, the position of an image pixel was confused by a pre-random sequence produced from chaotic value sort transformation; then the image pixel is encrypted with the IID key stream through XOR operation. The encrypted image exhibits good characteristic in the aspect of Sensitivity analysis, Statistical analysis, and Correlation Coefficient Analysis. The algorithm presented is suitable for image encryption.
