[Cp(CO)_2M]_2(1,2-PhN_3C_6H_4N_3Ph) [(M = Mo(1), M = W(2)] is formed in the reaction of Cp(CO)_3MCl with PhN_3(H)C_6H_4N_3(H)Ph and C_2H_5ONa in a THF/ethanol mixture. 1 crystallizes from toluene as dark red crystals (triclinic, P1, a = 1499.3(9) pm, b = 1 734.0(7) pm, c = 1 852.8(8) pm, α = 66.84(3)°, β = 78.25(4)°, γ = 77.19(4)°). The unit cell contains four complexes with two independent complexes in the asymmetric unit, and eight solvent molecules. 2 crystallizes from THF as yellow crystals free from solvent molecules (triclinic, P1, a = 979.0(5) pm, b = 1152.8(5) pm, c = 1475.8(5) pm, α = 98.26(4)°, β = 104.93(4)°, γ = 101.03(4)°, Z = 2). 1 and 2 are discrete molecular complexes with a 1,2-bis(phenyltriazeni-do)phenylligand, (PhN_3C_6H_4N_3Ph)~(2-), chelating the metal atoms of two Cp(CO)_2M units with the N atoms N1 and N3 of both N_3 groups. Due to the sterical pretension of the Cp(CO)_2M units the phenylenebistriazenido ligand deviates strongly from planarity that is found in the metal complexes characterized so far.%[Cp(CO)_2M]_2(1,2-PhN_3C_6H_4N_3Ph) [(M = Mo(1), M = W(2)] entsteht bei der Reaktion von Cp(CO)_3MCl mit PhN_3(H)C_6H_4N_3(H)Ph und C_2H_5ONa in einem THF/Ethanol-Gemisch. 1 kristallisiert aus Toluol in Form dunkelroter Kristalle (triklin, P1, a = 1499,3(9) pm, b = 1 734,0(7) pm, c = 1 852,8(8) pm, α = 66,84(3)°, β = 78,25(4)°, γ = 77,19(4)°). Die Elementarzelle enthält vier Komplexe, von denen jeweils zwei symmetrisch unabhängig sind, und acht Sol-vensmoleküle. 2 kristallisiert aus THF in Form gelber, solvens- freier Kristalle (triklin, P1, a = 979,0(5) pm, b = 1152,8(5) pm, c = 1475,8(5) pm, α = 98,26(4)°, β = 104,93(4)°, γ = 101,03(4)°, Z = 2). 1 und 2 sind diskrete Molekülkomplexe, in denen ein 1,2-Bis(phenyltriazenido)phenyl-Ligand, (PhN_3C_6H_4N_3Ph)~(2-), jeweils zwei Cp(CO)_2M-Einheiten über die N-Atome N1 und N3 der beiden N_3-Ketten chelatisierend koordiniert. Durch die räumlich anspruchsvollen Cp(CO)_2M-Ein-heiten weicht der Phenylenbistriazenido-Ligand stark von der in anderen Metallkomplexen angetroffenen Planarität ab.
