摘要

Aluminum matrix composites (AMC) have many potential engineering applications. Not much work hitherto has been reported for development of AMC with vacuum moulding (VM). In this work; Al-Al_2O_3, AMC has been developed with VM. The study highlights the effect of input parameters like: moulding sand, vacuum pressure and component volume on properties of AMC produced by the VM. An approach to macro-model the hardness and dimensional accuracy during development of AMC has been proposed and applied. Relationship between hardness, dimensional accuracy and other parameters have been deduced by using Taguchi technique L9 OA for industrial applications. The comparison with experimental results will also serve as a future validation of the model.
