As the Australian Court in Dow Jones recognized, the jurisdictional questions with respect to tortious Internet content may need to be resolved through legislative reform rather than by the courts. However, US courts have long shunned the perils of uniform speech codes. For the time being, the issue appears to boil down to whether judgments are enforceable, as Yahoo! found. While the Internet is not and never has been a law-free zone, uniform international libel laws and intellectual property laws may not be the answer either. The solution is not easy.
