We have had a busy year in e-commerce law in Europe, and on the whole, most of the usual topics have been covered. Privacy actions are certainly on the rise, and it is apparent that most of the regulators are concentrating on personal criminal prosecution to get the message home. Europe's courts are also still prepared to extend their reach beyond their own boundaries, like the ever-rumbling Yahoo! case in France shows us. 2003 promises to bring more of the same with perhaps more bad news for US companies on privacy, jurisdiction, and the need to ensure specific European compliance, even for US-based sites.
