Good afternoon everyone. I am very happy to be here today to have an opportunity to see all of you, and I really thank for your coming to join this meeting. First of all,I would like to explain the reason why we decided to establish the JSME International Union. It is to circumvent the risk of JSME becoming isolated from other foreign countries. Otherwise JSME will lose its initiative to guide world engineers towards the cutting edge technologies meeting worldwide needs.
