During the 60_(th) UITP World Congress and Exhibition which will take place in Geneva from 26 to 30 May 2013, visitors will discover and be able to try out a world premiere: a large-capacity 100% electric traction drive bus with fast battery recharging at stops. A demo bus will run between the International Airport and the event venue Palexpo. In mobility, innovation is not just a pastime for R&D teams with nothing better to do. It is urgent! The UN anticipates some 9 billion human beings on the planet by 2050, while the population living in urban areas will already have reached 5 billion by 2030. In Switzerland, as in many other countries, pollution levels are unfortunately higher than levels under the Kyoto Protocol commitments. At the same time, peak oil is expected within the next 25 years.
