Calypso: For the banking sector the possibility to issue cards with a payment application has been a reality for some time now. Consequently, several networks in Europe have shown great interest or have even adopted the use of banking cards as the sole payment means for using the public transport system. From our understanding the possibility to use Java cards can offer savings for the transport operators, but on the other side we see a loss of influence over the core business processes of the transport operators.
