With demands on the public purse constantly increasing and not set to ease in the foreseeable future, the public transport sector needs to find alternative financing solutions. One possibility is partnering with the private sector. The liquidity is there in the investor market and the private sector is in principle interested in financing public transport, but not under any conditions. This was a recurrent theme during the session "Possibly Perfect Partnership?" during the UITP conference on Financing Public Transport held in Hong Kong in November.
