The European Commission could soon propose a new legislative initiative on service concessions. The new legislation would have a direct impact on the public transport sector.rnThere is currently no EU text which provides a framework for the awarding of service concessions. Case law from the Court of Justice of the European Community has established rules at European level. In the transport sector, the PSO regulation has determined which regime applies to the awarding of service concessions since 3 December 2009.
