摘要

The financial crisis has had an impact both on transport companies and on the majority of other Russian enterprises. A number of projects have had to be suspended and the investments redirected to urgent needs. Many transport systems are seeing a drastic fall in ridership and consequently in farebox revenues. Moscow metro ridership for example has dropped by 5-6%.rnTo tackle these problems, transport companies need to take steps aimed at the economically viable use of funds. To deal with the consequences of the crisis, Moscow metro has set up an anti-crisis commission consisting of economists and metro administration. By taking steps to save resources they have managed to avoid redundancies and salary cuts. On the other hand, they have employed specialists from other companies who lost their jobs due to the crisis, and the salaries of metro workers will be increased as planned throughout 2009.
