摘要

Shanghai is a mega-city with a population of 19 million. The high population density and limited road resources mean that Shanghai must give priority to public transport in order to achieve sustainable development. Shanghai is making efforts in many areas. Urban transport planning should switch its focus from automobile development to people's real travel needs. Transport planning must be closely integrated with land use, and priority should be given to public transport facilities so as to enhance constant improvement and construction of transport infrastructure. By 2012, 60 transit hubs will be completed. In 2008, 2 bus depots with maintenance functions and 17 transit hubs will have been built, four of which will have Park&Ride facilities.
