Current staff shortages and growing mobility needs are leading many companies, unable to find the right candidates locally, to recruit abroad. Recruitment giant Robert Half International recently conducted a survey of 4516 HR and finance managers in 20 countries, which showed that 25% of companies actively seek to attract candidates from beyond their borders. Choosing to live abroad can be a tremendously satisfying experience to the person taking up a new post, on many levels. In career terms, the challenge of moving to and living in a different country is often looked upon very favourably by recruitment professionals. Beyond the purely professional aspect, living abroad can be a way of discovering new experiences, new cultures, the way of life somewhere else or simply the opportunity to learn another language.
