With the introduction of technologies for road pricing it is timely to reflect on whether we have the right approach to charges for vehicles and, bow can this be achieved. In examining road pricing, there is a temptation to see it as something new, sophisticated and beyond our Reach, But if we see pricing as simply how we charge road users then it has a long bitory indeed going Back to the Romans and their toll booths.
