摘要

The corrosion behavior of ST37-3 steel immersed in bitter leaf (vernonia amygdalina) solution was investigated at an ambient room temperature of 25 ℃. Corrosion susceptibility was estimated by weight loss measurement. The potential and PH measurements were carried out to study the effect of surface fines, effect of the leaves solution extract concentration, and effect of complexing ions. PH of the solution was found to decrease within the first five days indicating increasing acidity while potential measurement revealed potentials at which general corrosion and passivity can occur.
