摘要

The Islamic Law of War examines the justifications and regulations for going to war in both international and national armed conflicts under Islamic law. Examined is the use of force by both state and non-state actors in order to determine the nature of the Islamic law of war, and specifically whether holy war, offensive war, or only defensive war is permissible under Islamic law. The leading thread throughout the book is the misunderstanding that, as Al-Dawoody claims, results from studying the Islamic law of war from an 'outsider perspective'.
