Cellulose adsorbent containing hydrosulphonyl groups based on ammonia–thiosemicarbazide modified waste paper was synthesized (PWP-Cl-TSC). A simple and highly efficient separation/preconcentration procedure was developed for the determination of trace levels of coordination anions AgCl~(i)_(1−i)in perchloric samples via the PWP-Cl-TSC. The AgCl~(i)_(1−i)coordination anions in sample were adsorbed on the PWP-Cl-TSC packed into a micro-column and then eluted with thiourea (0.73 mol L_(−1))—HCl (0.2 mol L_(−1)). Under the optimal conditions, the analytical range was linear in the range of 0.02–0.2 μg mL_(−1). The detection limit and the precision of this method by flame atomic absorption spectrometry were 1.74 ng mL_(−1)and 6.48% (n = 8), respectively. The accuracy of the method was assessed using actual samples containing Ag(I), such as perchloric nickel electrolyte and groundwater in Lianhua Mountain districts. Moreover, PWP-Cl-TSC can be applied to identify the silver speciation due to its selectivity toward AgCl~(i)_(1−i)coordination anions.
