One of the tasks of an editor (and editorial team) is to create awareness for and interest in the journal s/he represents. To achieve this, the editor (or an associate editor) will give short presentations about the journal at conference "Meet the Editors" sessions, at doctoral and junior faculty workshops, and at university seminars. As my academic colleagues know, many conferences are held in the late spring and summer months, so an editor's travel schedule can be quite full in the summer.
