Each year, the JPIM Editorial Board and the PDMA Board of Directors select the JPIM Thomas P. Hustad Best Paper of the previous calendar year. They choose the refereed JPIM paper that they feel has made the most significant contribution to new product development practice and thought. The selection process is in two stages. First, the two Boards collectively consider all papers published during the previous year and select the finalists. Then, a second vote is taken by which the Best Paper winner is chosen. The reviewers consider: potential contribution of the research topic to academic thought; potential contribution of the research topic to practical application; quality and rigor of the research; originality of the research method and approach, topic, or findings; and fit with PDMA's mission.
