摘要

Reading how social work describes itself in its professional literature, educational textbooks, and even internal correspondence (from professional organizations, accrediting bodies, and "progressive" groups), one would think social workers stand as superheroes of the world, fighting for social justice, social change and, gosh, at the same time (incongruously) also community equanimity and spirituality. Perhaps it has been the historically low status of social work as a profession that has led to the strange reversal of fortune that, at least in their (our) own minds, has led social workers to place themselves on their own wonderful pedestal at the center of the universe.
