Proton Irradiation Effects on ZnO Pigments Modified by ZrO_2 Nanopowders

摘要

The effects of proton exposure (E = 100 ke V, F = 5 × 10~(14) - 1 × 10~(16) cm~(-2)) on the reflective spectra within the wavelength range from 250 to 2500 nm of ZnO pigments modified by ZrO_2 and ZrO_2 • Y_2O_3 nanopowders have been investigated. It has been established that introduction of nanopowders can enhance the optical properties stability of the pigments under proton irradiation due to the decrease in the concentration of zinc and oxygen vacancies (V_(Zn)~-, V_O~+, and V_O~0) and interstitial oxygen O_i~-. Expected values of change in solar absorptance and solar reflectance caused by single radiation-induced defects were calculated to simulate 20 years of proton exposure on circular orbit (R = 20,000 km).
