A new concept is presented that involves the use of dual satellite platforms connected through a tether. The feasibility of suitably varying tether offsets for achieving desired maneuver of both the platforms is explored. The Lagrangian formulation approach is utilized to develop the governing system of nonlinear ordinary differential Equations for the constrained system. A simple open-loop strategy is developed for the tether offset variations, that Ensures judiciously controlled changes in the orientation of satellite platforms.
