PYROTECHNIC devices are used for various aerospace appli-ncations because of the benefit in size and weight. Dependingnupon the energy source, the device could be grouped into twoncategories, such as a cartridge-actuated device (CAD) and anpropellant-actuated device (PAD).Acartridge is defined as an energynsource using one ormore energeticmaterials. The CADand PAD arendefined as a device releasing cartridge energy to perform a worknfunction and as a rocket-powered device releasing controlled propel-nlant energy to perform a work function [1–3]. When a pyrotechnicndevice is used for a system to thrust a mass, it can be called anpyrotechnic thruster.
