Impact of Power Meter uncertainties on the Communication Transponder Input and Output power measurement

摘要

Saturation Input and Output power measurement are one of the most important tests carried out on bent pipe transponders onboard a GEOSAT payload. These parameters give the Saturated Effective Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP) and Saturated Flux Density (SFD). The RF measurement of input and output power is done through gain transfer curve using inject carrier method. The prime measuring instrument for measurement is power meter (PM). This paper presents the analysis of the PM uncertainties and its impact on the Transponder Saturation Input and Output Power measurement. Impact of the various factors like Power, Frequency, VSWR etc on PM uncertainty and their impact on the final measurement will be shown. The computation of measurement uncertainty is carried out in accordance with the ISO Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM) standard.
