The product assurance plan for the IRS-1C described in this paper is to ensure that the spacecraft conforms to all the mission requirements for a minimum life of three years. The reliability and quality assurance methodology incorporated in the IRS-1C is based on the rich experience gained during development of the IRS-1A/1B. Besides meeting normal Reliability & Quality Assurance requirements, namely, Reliability Analysis, Qualification and Acceptance testing, the efforts put in during the IRS-1C in terms of application of improved quality level of components, upgradation of non-standard components, improved Environmental Stress Screening methodology for subsystems testing and the corrective actions taken for the quality problems observed during the IRS-1A/1B development are also described.
