摘要

The micro-knitting structures make knitted fabric different from woven fabric. Based on its micro-mechanical model, the buckling of knitted fabric sheet subjected to uniaxial tension in arbitrary direction is investigated. The large deformation of fabric sheet in critical configuration is considered. The accurate theory on instability for finite deformation is applied to the analysis. All the stress boundary conditions of knitted fabric sheet are satisfied. The equation to determine the buckling direction angle is derived. It is shown that there are two possible buckling modes, flexural mode and barreling mode. The buckling conditions for the two modes are obtained, respectively. The illustration shows that only the flexural mode can actually occur. It is also verified that when the tension is along wale direction the buckling direction angle will be zero, and when the tension is along course direction the knitted fabric does not buckle. All these analytical results agree well with the experimental observations.
