This paper summarises the findings of a research project undertaken to attempt to define the role and identity of fashion in Hong Kong. The underlying hypothesis is that fashion is a dual product of globalisation and cultural phenomena, and that Hong Kong plays a dual role as a fashion producer and fashion consumer. There is a dearth of information on subjects of relevance, hence much of the data was collected through interviews. The theoretical framework necessitated a multidisciplinary approach. An attempt was made to reconstitute an identity for fashion in Hong Kong.
