This paper presents the validation of an experimental technique that maps the transfer of energy in vibrating structures. The technique is known as Experimental Spatial Power Flow(ESPF) and is unique in that it provides a spatially continuous representation of the Power flow based on measurements from a scanning laser Doppler vibrometer. In this Paper, the ESPF technique is validated by showing that ESPF results compare to within 10 percent of the results obtained using single point impedance head measurements. A simply supported plate excited by two shakers phased to act as a energy source and sink is used as the test object.
